I can't believe that it is March 8th!! A week from today will be the middle of March!! Time is just FLYING by. Lauren (my sister-in-law) sends out weekly updates on how her preganancy is coming along. I really enjoy and look forward to them. She informed us this week that the doctor said if she went into labor, they wouldn't stop it!! AHHH!! It really hit me yesterday that our family, as we know it, is going to change. Not that it is a bad change, it is just a little crazy to think how fast the months have passed. I feel like I still want time with Matt and Lauren before they are parents.... At the same time I can't believe my BROTHER is going to be a DAD!!! OH MY WORD!! My exhausted brain can't handle it all!! Needless to say, I am REALLY looking forward to it. I think one of the reasons time is flying by is because I have had (and will continue to have) something going on every weekend from Feb 16th-March30th!!! (with the exception of one weekend off...Feb 23rd due to massive snow and ice storms in Iowa...what's new?) Feb 16 - Youth Winter Meltdown Feb 23 - SNOW STORM!! Mar 1 - Tallahassee Conference Mar 9 - Youth Ski Trip Mar 16 - Becca Brummel in IOWA AND Lauren's baby shower in KC! Mar 23 - Chicago with my small group girls
I missed last weekend's blizzard where we had 56 mph winds, snow everywhere and all our interstates shut down!! (Which NEVER happens!) I missed it because I was in FLORIDA! Yes FLORIDA!!! Although it was all work and no play... We (work) had a conference there last weekend. We left on Thursday morning at 7am and missed the snow storm, but we DIDN'T miss all the other weather activity. The pilot deverted our route to Memphis to miss what he could of all the weather going on across the country. Thus missing our connecting flight to Tallahassee by 5 mins! The plane was right in front of our very eyes and they would NOT let us on the plane!! We had to stand in the longest line (which at first had ONE attendant running customer service) to book another flight. We got put on stand by on the next flight to Tallahassee which was 2:40pm, we arrived in Memphis at 9:30am. We would arrive into Tallahassee at 5:30 with an event that night at 7pm!!! AHHH!!! As we waited, tornados hit Memphis and the power went out. We had everyone we know PRAYING that we made it on the flight, that the lights would come back on and that the tornados wouldn't hit the airport!! God was (and is) good. The electricty came back on and we made it on the 2:40 flight! (Only because a plane was delayed getting into Memphis due to weather...so what "hurt" us, "helped" us in the long run!) We arrrive at the church at 6:50pm! Praise the Lord the volunteer team we were training that night were gracious. Normally we have the entire place set up and ready to go by the time they arrived...most of them arrived before we did!! The conference was great...tiring, but great. The weather was WONDERFUL, even though I never got to really "enjoy" it. I DID get to wear flip flops and have the sunroof back and the windows down the entire weekend...all while the blizzard was raging on at home...so I had no complaints! After being there (and my recent schedule) I would really like to take a trip to Florida (or some place warm). I don't know who I can ask to go with me (who wants to go by themselves?), everyone I know is married or having a baby!! Maybe I have to accept the fact that I may not get to go.... Alright, I have transcribed enough! I need to go back for the ski trip this weekend...pray I don't break any bones! Megan, I am praying for you, Sam and James. I love your updates...let's connect one of these days! Sarah, I am praying for you! I pray you are adjusting. I pray you are getting sleep. I pray Reese is adjusting. Let's connect soon too! Love you both very much! |
